I am going to be in Aix-en-Provence for the fall semester, and while I am really excited, I am apprehensive of the costs over there, and am looking for any ways I can save money.

First, are there any sites for getting cheap airplane tickets? THe cheapest I have found to Marseille is around $650 through Lufthansa. Everything else on Expedia is like $1200.

Second, I have heard that debit cards and credit cards are the ways to go. Is there any bank/company in particular that a student like myself should sign up under for a debit card?

Lastly, do you all have any tips in general for traveling around in general...

oh yeah, I will have a week off sometime in Novemeber, and I can go as far as my wallet will take me, so what would you recommend me seeing around Europe. (Aix is in Southern France btw).

Thanks in advance..

I am leaving for Spain today on a study abroad and the cheapest airline ticket I could find was around $1000. Are you leaving in August? If your leaving in August $650 sounds cheap. Anything over the summer is expensive. Get a Visa or Master card, as there are a lot of places that do not take American Express.

The American dollar is weak to, with conversion fees your dollar will only be worth about 75% in Europe.

From what I heard there are a lot of pick pockets. In America you just get mugged, in Europe they are a lot more subtle about stealing your money. Do not carry your wallet in your back pocket and do not leave any bags unattended.

haha, I wish.

Believe me, neither I nor my parents pay the full tuition.

I am on a generous financial aid plan...
