OMG, the game is too addicting. I stayed up all night, and I've still only paid off the 100,000 loan, and then made 600,000. But that's only because I wasn't being very active. In the latter 1 hour, I must have made ~1,000,000.

/me hugs TTD

I LOVE Transport Tycoon. Seriously, maybe my single favorite game of all time. One of the very few old games that I can still play and enjoy completely.

Funny you say that. I actually was thinking about installing the game last night, but I resisted because I knew I would spend countless hours playing that game.

I also enjoy playing Capitalism II. I wish they would make an updated one.

I've never heard of Capitalism. You have any screenshots?

I love love LOVE these games.

Like Sim City, Sims, anything along those lines, they get really addicted, I will have to go buy Transport Tycoon Deluxe before I go home and play it all night 😀

ever hear of http://www.openttd.org/ ?

Sim City is my all-time favorite series of games. I never tried the Tycoon games, they always seemed to be the "Wal-Mart Brand" version of Sim City. Is it really that good? I might have to try it out. I've stopped caring much about nice graphics: I just want fun gameplay in games now.

Yes, I was reading the About section of it, seems very cool. You have to have the original version of the game though, right?

yup :
Notice
OpenTTD requires the original version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe data files in order to function. Please refer to the readme for more information.

Yeah, if you look around the open TTD site it gives a place with links to download TTD for windows / dos / etc

Rollercoaster Tycoon isn't that bad either. I've spent countless hours trying to build the ultimate amusement ride park.

TT/TTD > Locomotion

Man, its one of my all time favourites... The game just does NOT get old! Its been what, 10 years? Youre damn right its too addicting... The idea of going through time and replacing trains with better ones etc, just awesome.. I only wish the game would not end, its such a shame when you stop getting better stuff.. they should make a new one from like, 1500-2500 😀😀

if you follow links in their forum it has a version you can download... it didn't run on my system however... but it let the open source version work.

My next problem is that I have absolutely no idea how to play 🙂

Is there a tutorial somewhere I'm missing?

I tried OpenTTD, but I didn't seem to like it that much. Maybe I'll have to give it another try.

One thing that always baffles me is the use of the signals. Let's say you have a line from A to B, and you want two trains traveling on the same line, and you've set up two different places where the train can stop on the side. How do you set up the signals?
