translucent case paint

I have an old case I'd like to keep using - it's cut for lots of fans which I need but it's beige and ugly.

I was going to paint it and was looking for some translucent paints. I once used a paint which you could apply directly over existing paint but found it in some store in LA and can't even remember the brand.

Any suggestions? I was looking for a spray can type paint; auto paint folks here recommend paints that need to be shot with a gun which is MUCH more than I want to take on.

Thanks.

I used regular enamal gloss black spraypaint from Home Depot to paint my older case. Let it dry for like 48 hours though! The paint is called RUST-PROOF or something beginning with rust (maybe RUST-OFF?), but it worked fine with all the plastic pieces I did (case front, CD burner front, floppy drive front).

I'm not sure what you mean by "translucent paint." Translucent means you can see through it partially. Do you mean glossy or reflective? If not, just spray a light coat that doesn't cover the case completely. 😛
