translucency supporting window managers

Have a search around for something called "Transperizer". The homepage is gone now, and development has stopped, but you can still find it for download here and there.

Be aware that it's pretty resource hungry, so it will bring anything less than a GeForce 2 and 600MHz processor to its knees. It only works in Win2K/WinXP.
 
i'd like something for x. i think kde allows translucent windows, but i don't really want to go all out with a desktop manager
