Transient choppy graphics?

I've been playing Fallen earth for about a month now and have been playing arround with the settings. The problem is that about for about 5 seconds every minute or so, the graphics get very choppy, then return to normal.
My Laptop, a Sager was state of the art 2 years ago, quad-core with dual graphic cards.
I've tried SLI enabled and disabled. I've tried lowest settings and highest. I've tried it hard wired and wireless. I've tried it at home and away. It does not seem to be affected by the number of players around (like cities in WoW).
I was just wondering if anyone has run into this and knows how to adjust the settings to eliminate it.
I didn't find anything on their official forum, but if others have I would appreciate the link.

Try reformatting and restoring the system to its original state?
Check for running background apps?
Make sure you're not running out of memory (system or video).
And make sure it's not overheating.
Update the graphics drivers if you can. From nvidia's site or laptopvideo2go if nvidia doesn't offer drivers.

Try a hard disk defrag. Sounds like you're swapping.

I could not find my post that I made on these forums re: Fallen Earth performance issues. Can't even find it in the search or the Fallen Earth thread.

I believe SergeC is very close, narrowing it down to the hard drive.

In my days of playing there used to be an obscene amount of I/O going through a couple of files inside the Fallen Earth folder. Besides defragmenting the drive a significant performance boost was obtained through setting Windows Index Service to specifically index the Fallen Earth game folder.

Most people saw good benefits with this little tweak and FPS could literally double in certain heavily populated towns.

Transient = homeless.

Transient - adjective
1. not lasting, enduring, or permanent; transitory.
2. lasting only a short time; existing briefly; temporary: transient authority.
3. staying only a short time: the transient guests at a hotel.

As other's have stated, check background processes, etc.

Yes just this game. Transient is defined as not lasting or not permantent. But in the game we certainless look like homeless people.
