Transgender boy barred from catholic school

The child needs major counseling. At that age they can't really make firm decisions such as wanting to be gay and really mean it, so it's the time to fix that. Could be anything like maybe he sees girls get treated better or something and thinks it would be cool to be a girl. Who knows, but he should be directed in the right direction.

Rather then ban him though, they should help him instead.

Isn't catholic school a private school? They're pretty free to say they don't want him there because of his appearance. I'm also sure they don't allow boys or girls to have died hair or whatever, too.

Everybody already said their opinion about the 8 yr old.

She can try to spread awareness to the church all she wants, but the gays and other people have been travelling down that path for quite a while now.

I was a bit surprised with how many open "be yourself" people around here how many of you think the family is "faking it", "making him do it", or that the kid "has no idea what he wants". Most transgendered people have said they knew from a young age.

In fact if he starts early he'll be able to counter-act his natural puberty hormones and transition to a girl with little difficulty.

ATOT is strange sometimes with what they are open to.

You shouldn't give this girl advice, seeing as you don't know the difference between transgender and gay.

The ignorance in this thread is depressing.

Look at all the fucking psychologists in here. Where did y'all get your degrees?

The same place they got their great insights into religion. The depths of their bowels.

At my private school we couldn't have shaved heads, flat tops, or cut the sides of our hair shorter than a #2. It's private and they get to say who stays and who goes. The 8yr old kid needs some serious counseling and the parents need to be evaluated. No way an 8yr old is capable of making that desicion on their own.

Would the school get any government funding?

If not then they should be free to run the school as they wish.

However, if they get dollar 1 from the goverment they have some obligation to be non discriminatory.

This really has nothing to do with sexuality people.

It's just a simple case of a girl in a boys body. It happens.

We're just acutely aware of it now. It makes sense that people of younger ages would be able to recognize their condition. This person knows they're a girl on the inside. Just like a straight person knows they're straight.

The issue of sexuality will come up when the person reaches that age I guess. I suppose they would be considered gay, which isn't really fair in a sense.

Although, things might change when the testosterone starts flowing... He.. she.. wtf ever.. may not want to dance around in dresses so much anymore.

I dunno. I think there's a distinction between people like this and gay people, but I'm not quite sure what it is.*

*This post not meant to be demeaning to anyone in any way. lol

LOL. That's sig material, right there!

Sorry but there's no such thing as a boy stuck in a girls body or vice versa. If you ever meet one of these people you will find that they had tons of physical/sexual abuse as a child/baby and it causing them problems such as these. It's especially obvious with this kid because the parents are somehow supporting this.

See coreyb thinks he is perfect, and can't imagine anyone not wanting to live a life exactly like his. Full of bigotry, hatred, and intolerance.

Shit like this is part of why I'm Deist. Not so much that I care, just that it simplifies things oh so nicely.

Personally I think the 8 year old doesn't have any idea what he's talking about. Hell the kid hasn't even hit puberty yet.

must have been the tons of physical/sexual abuse he had as a child/baby.

I don't get it. You didn't come back with anything to convince me otherwise. Apparently I don't get out much because I don't believe in this hokey "man stuck in a woman's body bullshit".

also i wonder if a 8 yr old really knows what they want?

That would be my biggest concern. At age 8 are you really old enough to be making life changing decisions ?

Thirded.

There's the people who say they "just knew" at some young age like 5 or something that they were different or felt they were in the wrong body. I find it hard to understand an 8 y/o would think like this on his own.

Hard to understand that an 8 y/o would think like this on his own? Get real man.... I knew damn right that I liked women when I was that age. Hell I still remember my first crush from kindergarten.
