and as far as the movie, I'll be forced to try and get it in HD, some way, so I can watch it. No way am I buying a damned HD-DVD player, unless the format war ends and it is 'declared victorious'. 'Till then, I'll stick with one.

Can't remember if you have a 360 but I'm willing to bet that it will show up on Xbox Live Video Marketplace a week or two after the DVD release....just like '300' did.

no 360, although roomie has one.
What kind of video codec and bitrate? audio codec and bitrate?

its quite good.... ive rented quite a few movies from there.

they use vc1 @ 720p and its vbr but averages around 6.5mbit.... audio is wma pro 5.1 (which your receiver will convert to dd 5.1). it compares very favorably to hd-dvd/bluray considering its 1/3 the size. in my tests comparing it to bluray/hd-dvd its about 90-95% the quality of a good bluray or hd-dvd. if you want to get an idea for the quality go download the transformers trailers on the marketplace (some of the trailers dont have 5.1 audio though).

Yeah, it is the same codec that is used for HD DVD just at 720p instead of 1080p. Still comes out very nice.

yep its good enough that when they come out with a subscription model for the movies im dropping netflix and going to the xbox as my primary way to watch movies. hd movies are a real pita to get from netflix because they dont buy enough copies and i primarily rent movies. almost every hd-dvd and bluray i have on netflix has a long wait. and alot of those i want to watch now.

also its nice that my cable service is 8.0 mbit so i can pick a movie and 5 mins later be watching it. far faster than netflix and i wont have to manage a queue.

its not original at all. the explanation for the robots really sucked pretty hard, esp when earth machines started to come alive..

the cartoon was original though, even if it made very little sense either. but the way they basically massacred everyone was certainly original. its basically like an xmen movie where almost everyone dies lol:)

the paintjob, I can't make any comment on. It didn't bother me but I understand why it would upset some.
Bumblebee, well that's VW's fault. They denied the use of their car as it would be relating to war.
and with that, I enjoyed the quick jab at VW when Bumblebee, while at the car lot, hit the old VW next to him. :D

No, It was a Michael Bay film.

get over yourself the movie was good

You're in the minority, and the minority is quite small in this instance.

I didn't care for it either and I loved Transformers when I was a kid. I didn't like it not because it ruined the Transformers name or something, but because it was a 2 hour long GM commercial. I don't even normally mind product placements, but it was too distracting when they kept flashing car badges.

However, they should release a "fixed version" where all of the GM name badged are digitally removed and that scene where they hide from the parents for 5 minutes is cut. Then I'd think the movie was pretty good.

THAT ruined it for you?

I didn't say it ruined it for me or that it sucked, but to me to made it go from a good movie, to an average movie. When watching a movie, I shouldn't have to see cuts to a zoomed in GM name badge every five minutes. It is distracting and removes me from the story.

So, I'll speak with my wallet and I won't buy the DVD or HD-DVD, or a GM car for that matter.

+1

This is one of the few movies I actually walked out of. It had promise for the 1st 5 minutes with them actually explaining the Roflcopter as a missing one, ect, and the attack at the base was cool, But after they killed the scorpion, and all the marines are investigating it like they are NASA scientists. Let's not for get the lame "Hacker" sub plot that went no where.
The movie was dumbed down so much it was laughable. They would have done a better job if they just took the animated movie and converted it to live action.
