Transferring WU's between computers

Can I transfer WU's from one computer to another? I set up SETI on my laptop but it is taking way too long and it is getting too hot. Can I somehow move the WU's from my laptop onto my desktop computer?

BMdoobieW , Yes, you can. But, how you do it depends on what programs you are using to crunch S@H. Explain it here and we will give specific help.

I am using CLI and SETI Driver. The standard Team Anandtech recommended setup. Moving the whole folder over to a computer without SETI installed sounds like a good idea. I can try that next week if I can't transfer the WU's to a computer that already has SETI installed. Thanks!

BMdoobieW,

You will note that SetiDriver creates numbered directories which hold each of the cached WUs. You need only copy those numbered directories to SetiDriver on another machine. You will want to check the destination machine and see what the highest numbered directory is, then renumber the source directories to numbers above that. Stop SetiDriver on the destination drive and copy the re-numbered directories. Restart SetiDriver and you will note that the cache size has increased to include the number WUs. Once you have confirmed that things are working properly on the destination system you can then delete the SetiDriver directory on the source system.

If you want to put them on a system that isn't running SETI, then copy the entire SetiDriver directory with all subdirectories. There is no need to install anything; just copy it.

Good uck and let us know how it goes!
