Transferring P2P on AIM with router

How can I set up my router so that the firewall allows for a P2P connection over AIM and MIRC?

Find out what ports you need to open up to transfer files in AIM and mirc. Then go to the port forwarding section of your router's menu and put the port numbers in.

For some reason that doesn't always work... I've tried it, and when both people are behind a firewall it doesn't work.

With my router, D-Link Di-604, I had to download the beta version of AIM to get it to connect. Even then the other person had to be on the beta also for me to be able to connect to them.
