I've sold my AMD Athlon 650/K7V/128/30 and bought a Dell Dimension 4100/866 for a really great price (I could not resist!)

I'd like to copy my current settings and preferences for these applications from my old to my new PC. I will probably end up downloading the applications again (the beauty of DSL) but I want to be able to maintain my existing settings, preferences and cookies.

Where/how should I go about this? I am currently using Win 98:SE and will be using Win ME in the new Dell.

Important files:
ICQ 2000b beta v4.56 build # 3264, September 2000
AIM 4.1.2010
Internet Explorer settings and bookmarks

Not as important files:
SETI for Windows 98
Napster settings
mIRC settings

I plan on FTP'ing these files up to my web site for temporary storage then downloading them when using my Dell.

Any and all help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

ICQ: First zip up the existing icq folder. Install icq on the new computer, unzip the files into the new icq directory.

AIM: If you are talking about the buddylist then all you do is Click My AIM\Save Buddly List.. and your done

Ie/Favorites: I dont know how to save the ie settings but to save the bookmarks all you have to do is find your windows directory and look for favorites. C:\WINDOWS\Favorites

mirc will run out of its own folder...you can just save the c:/mIRC folder and drop it in your new install...mainly you can do this for every program you want to save: install the program and drop the old, saved folder over it to overwrite...if you are changing from 9x to NT or 2k you may find some problems, and if the settings for the program are written to the registry you would have to find those too...but all your favs and ICQ, KeNDoGG has it on the money! good luck and hope this helps!
