Ok, this is a little complex but if you can help it'd be appreciated..

I think I might be losing a domain name I legally bought.

A year ago I bought hosting and domain name bundle, all was well. Then they increased their prices and I've decided not to stay with them. They're being really awkward though, insisting I pay for the time I've been hosted for this year (they kept my website active even though I hadn't paid the invoice). I don't care about the hosting, I've backed up my entire site and now just want my domain name as I've bought hosting elsewhere.

Thing is, I don't know if I can transfer it. I've checked the whois database and I'm listed as the administrative contact (with my email address etc) but the company is listed as everything else.

Has anyone transfered a domain name? If so can I do it if I'm only the admin contact?

I've already filled out the form for transfering a domain name but when I get to then last screen it's listing my billing info as that of the company I want to leave. I entered that company's info because the form said to enter the proper info and not to falsefy anything. So, can I enter my details as the billing details eventhough they're currently listed as the old hosting company's details?

I don't want to lose this domain!

Yes.

For the purposes of domain registration, the administrative contact is the boss of all bosses. They may try to block the transfer, though. Many of these el-cheapo outfits try to play games.
