I've connected 2 servers with a crossover cable.
I'm transferring 45 GB of data from one to the other
Per my calculations:
45 GB = 46080 MB
46080 MB = 368640 megaBITS
Okay, assuming a perfect 100mbit/sec conditions it should take roughly 62 minutes to transfer that amount of data.
It's already been 45 minutes and the transfer is only about 1/4 of the way done. What could be affecting the transfer speed?
Machine serving the files is in use as a production web/application server (win2k) so I figured the load on that would account for some, but the cpu usage is under 50%. The machine receiving the files is a new win2k3 server doing absolutely nothing right now.
