Transfer mpeg to TV monitor creates blockiness

I am using the Dazzle USB product to make mpegs from a VCR tape. Then, I edit the mpeg videos, put in transitions, titles, etc. Then, I transfer the finished movie back to the VCR. When I do this, sometimes the tape and the movie appears blocky on the TV. (not on the computer). This mostly seems to happen when I use transitions like screen wipes, and does not happen when I use fade outs. The blockiness clears up after 30 seconds, but this makes the tape useless.

Does anyone have any experience with this from other video captures?

that is normal with cheap video in products for your computer, a better solution with be an ati radeon all-in-wonder or a usb2.0 or firewire video in solution, or even a pci hardware based card for video in. BUT it will be spendy. The usb solution usally dont cut it at all, I have tryed them before and only and little sucess.
