Oh no, he is dumb. dude has a 70 word vocabulary. He's really just dumb.

People think he has some sort of smarts for being successful and scammy. There really isn't any skill in being loud, obnoxious, and getting your face everywhere. That's all he ever has done, and that is the entirety of his brand. That isn't smarts, it's basically what you are left with when you are that dumb, and just have no shame.

He managed to get elected president of the United States and unlike, say, G Dub he wasn't simply a front guy. He managed to find a crew that was smart enough to find the needed plan for victory, they didn't come as a package deal from behind the curtain. He's not a stupid person. He seems ignorant as the day is long and rather obviously will never change in that respect but that's pretty much because he doesn't need to. He's the rich and powerful (and extremely spoiled) 'big daddy' and he has minions to do his work for him and come up with the details he needs.

Sorry, I would need some really serious persuasion to believe him to be stupid.

He's the most gifted con man this country has ever produced. I mean, he's President, right?

Actually he is ignorant self absorbed narcissist. The truly stupid people are the ones who voted for him. Thanks you red state rubes, a minority of the voting country.

They are still too stupid to realize they have been conned. They will eventually but it will take some time and a major catastrophe.

Go back to, say, Nixon. What happened during his presidency that began to fundamentally change the Republican party (it's structure, it's support and it's goals as a party)? Basically you've got almost 50 years of propaganda (and actions) devoted to the destruction of the Democratic Party. The Republicans have been fighting a war to the knife against the Democratic Party for most of that time and the Democrats never really noticed.

In another thread I noted how the US hasn't hit 60% turnout for a presidential election since 1968. The Republicans have succeeded in turning almost half the voting public off from the political process itself. I guess 50 years of screaming about the evils of govt. and how the other party is out to destroy the very fabric of American life and even the country itself actually works.

And then, an authoritarian demagogue comes along and sees his chance and grabs it. It's kinda what had to be expected. I'm just a bit surprised that it's happening now. I kinda believed that it might take a couple of more decades but then I'm a bit of an optimist at times.

Of course it's more complicated than a couple of brief paragraphs but you get the picture.
 
the guy has the diction of an 8 year old. it's really fucking sad. his supporters are dunces.

and he can't help but bring in his personal vendettas into every situation.

i doubt donald trump even knows what the word vendetta means.
 
I just spoke with Frederick Douglas over the phone. He assures me that rumors of his 19th century demise are greatly exaggerated, and wants everyone to know that he gives Trump's speech a giant thumbs up!
