Aisle is good for tripping hijackers.

I'm flying ElAl, they have designated trippers.

Worst customer service ever.

But then, which airline isn't these days?

window.

worst is being in the middle set of 5 seats, like in the middle seat. gotta climb over 2 people just to take a piss. what a joke. though i suppose you'd have to do the same in plane that had 3 seats at the windows too.

i'd go for the window seat though. because these things out weigh the bit of inflight gymnastics you need to do to use the lav.

1) you can prop the pillow on the cabin wall and sleep in a slightly more comfy orientation
2) you have a window to look out of, and theres nothing better that looking at the engines!
3) you arent flanked by two people who you may or may not like.

for me, travel on virgin....more space between all the seats.

and make sure your plane is an Airbus A340 or whatever is equivalent to a 777. here is why.

this aircraft has WC's located centrally, you have to walk down a stair case to get to them. so really the WC's arent level with the cabin. around this stairwell is a wall and in an attempt to utilize space they have put seats around the wall to keep the aisle the same width. the seats to the left and right of the stairs are single seats! thats right.

so you get a wall to rest on, an aisle to get up quickly and you are sat next to nobody! you actually get alot of elbow room as well, and space enough to extend your legs either side of the chair infront and because the toilets are downstairs and you are also seperated by a wall theres no issues with people annoying you, toilet flush noises or smells.

Personally, I always take the Window seat. Something to look at (time passes) and a wall as your headrest. Even at night, you can still see lights etc. (if flying over land) or the movements of the wing etc.

You can always tell the person in middle/aisle to stand when you have to go to restroom. If they sleeping, tell them that your other option is to pee on them ;) (joking)

Seriously, in my West coast <-> East Coast flights, I only get up once in the middle of the flight (~6hrs). So trans-atlantic, max I will be getting up is ~2 times which is not annoying to anyone.

Yes, aisle is good b/c you can get up anytime and stretch without asking someone

the methods to go pee when stuck in the middle of a row are few but heres the two i like.

1) bring an empty bottle with a wide enough neck to fit you know what in. if you wear a blanket over you and most people are asleep no one will know you just whizzed in a bottle and they probably wont here it either thru cabin noise, ear plugs.

obviously that method is out the question when people are awake.

2) man up, and use the arm rests as platforms and hop your way across like your in super mario for the SNES. that way you disturb no one.

obviously there are risks..... 1) you could overflow, or miss.... that would be embarrassing and probablu smelly, 2) you could end up taking a dive lol and that would be painful

I flew with them many times, never really had a problem.

You can get just as trapped in a Business or First Class seat.

Unless you are really big and tall (where the curving wall gets in your way), the window is always better. The only advantage of the aisle is that you can get up. Well, with a window seat, be a man and get up when you want to!

Nothing beats being able to sleep with your head to the side on a window seat. This is especially true on a long flight.

Lies.

Most airlines have canned that aspect. All the NA beverages you want... charge for alcohol. However, it's a good opportunity on the return flight to get rid of any leftover coin by buying booze, since most currency changers don't let you exchange coins.

I always take the window seat in coach.
I've been flying at least one transatlantic flight a year for the past 14 years now and there is no way I would take an aisle or middle seat in coach.
You can lean up agains the window and use your jacket as a pillow (airline pillows are beyond disgusting) and be somewhat comfortable.

The other nice thing is that no one is going to be bothering you to get up. You can be the one bothering other people. Much better that way.

I HAVE+++ to sit in an aisle seat on a plane or else I'll kick through the seat in front of me incredible hulk style. Sucks on an international flight though with like 3 meals being served, and I like to sleep the whole flight. Get my legs banged up.

Not really, because I don't have to get up when the guy from the inside wants to get out, there's more than enough room. On international first (crossing the ponds), there's absolutely no trapping whatsoever.

Sure, but you pay dearly for those 11 hours of comfort.
