We were going to see them when they come here to Phoenix, but they'll be in Pittsburgh (where we're going to visit family for Christmas) on 12/23. I'm so excited they'll just happen to be there when we're there. And 2 days before Christmas! We'll probably buy tickets tonight.

Has anyone seen this group this year, or in the past? I'm thinking about getting tickets and wondering what people thought of the show. Their CD is awesome!

Do they do anything else besides Christmas music? I like their Carol of the Bells or is it Christmas in Siberia, but I find most Christmas music a little creepy.

went to the 11/29 show in Virginia and it was incredible. I love the Christmas Eve and Other Stories CD but I'm definately going out to get the other 2 after attending. About 1/2 of the show was Christmas music, the other was some Beethoven off one of their cd's and just some all out rocking. The light show is awesome, and the performance overall beats any rock concert I've gone to. It was also quite long, 2.5 hrs which is longer than most of the 1-1.5hr sets bands will do.

Just got back from the show. Despite the blizzard, the shows went on (Matinee and Evening performances). They get better and better each and every time I've seen them. I had front row center seats, ended up at the end of the night with Jeff Plate's drumstick, and a guitar pick from Chris Caffery. I'll save the full review for tomorrow since I'm exhausted from the hour drive there and back in the blizzard. Surprisingly, the place was probably 85-90% full, no snow is going to stop true TSO fans.

Below you'll find the review I wrote after the Los Angeles, 12/05 show. It's from my Blogger:

The show started at 8:15. I've listened to the the cd's so many times. I never know the titles of any of the songs but I recognize them pretty easily. They played with almost no downtime between songs. There were no set changes, no intermissions etc. After about an hour they did a big introduction of the band. I thought "Wow, that was a short show. Pretty pricey!" Oh how wrong I was. They played for another two hours. Yes, a three hour concert. Ridiculous for the amount of money we paid.

Anyway, the concert was easily one of the best shows I have ever seen. It's just so hard to put into words. What's neat is they play stuff that you instantly recognize but they change it so much so it's like a new song. They played Flight of the Bumblebee, that evil chanting song that you always hear in the movies, and of course all the classic Christmas songs like Joy to the World, etc. It was really exciting when they'd start a song and you recognize it as some famous classical song. I am not good with names but you instantly get the "Oh my god, it's that song!"

The concert was really a story. They either had a poem telling the story or someone singing a song about it. The message was really positive and comforting. All the singers were very good. All had powerful voices and they all varied.

The stage effects were awesome! They had fog machines, lasers, flames, explosions, fireballs, sparks and fireworks. And everything was coordinated very well.

Oh, the lead violinist looked like Michelle Branch. She was really cute and SUCH a good player. And she plays with such passion. In one song she actually broke strings on her bow because she plays so hard. Extremely talented. Lots of solos of her doing stuff like Flight of the Bumblebee and some Beethoven classics I don't know the name of :(

Anyway, it's really hard for me to write about it. It was simply awesome. Anyone who has any appreciation for quality music and Christmas songs, owes it to themselves to attend one of these concerts. They said they would be touring again in Summer 2004. I know I'll be there, will you?

I was just looking to see what tickets were available for that show. I have the 12/24-12/29 off, with nothing to do on 12/26, Albany's about a 2 hour ride, was thinking about going to that show. Of course, I also have front row center tix to the 12/28 show here in CT. Seeing them twice in one weekend (and 3 times this month alone) might cause me to spontaniously combust from sheer gratification.

Are there any good seats left? When I got mine there were no floor left but I got row AA sec. 121 which ain't bad. If you can get 'em come on over, we'd be glad to have ya...:) I've had them playing on my shoutcast server for weeks so I can listen at work and am counting down the days. BTW, do you know if it is the same touring group as you saw (as they have 2 running at the same time due to demand but I'm sure you know that)? It would be great to see both so close together.

Damn, I can get Row AA for Sec. 119, but I don't know how good the seats are as I have never been to the Pepsi Arena. Are they any good?

Yes, it will be the same touring group. They are amazing. Buy a program, and stay for the meet & greet afterwards, each member is there and signs whatever you want them to (I had them sign my program under each of their pics).

What's your shoutcast server, I'd love to listen to them while I'm at work too!!! :D

Go here for the seating chart. Funny, those seats weren't available when I pre-ordered mine...:) As for the shoutcast server, I have a lot of Christmas music on there, not just TSO but if you want it, it's here. I usually have it up from 6:30 A.M. till about 4:30 P.M.

I lied. We decided to go tonight in Phoenix, since it's our 1st anniversary and didn't have other plans. The show was great. My wife had never heard them, and loved the show. She wants to go the next time they're in town. They played a sample of their upcoming "Beethoven's Last Night" tour (sometime in May/June), and it was awesome! Heavy Beethoven with fireworks and fire balls (felt the heat 22 rows back!). I doubt we'll go in Pittsburgh, as planned. $100 is not bad for 2 tickets to a show, but not sure it's worth a second show in the same month. I'll definitely see the Beethoven show. They had to play a second show tonight. They said it's the first time they had 2 shows in the same day.

Went to the Milwaukee show last night, and it was excellent. The first half was the Christmas show, and it was mostly good. The second half they came out of character and just let loose. It was amazing. They did a rendition of the Duel of the Fates (John Williams). At first I found it amusing, but it blew me away when it was over. The Beethoven portion with the pyrotechnics was excellent, too. I can't wait until this spring when they do the Beethoven's Last Night tour.

They claimed that we were the biggest show they had ever played, which suprised me. Hmmm...

The Beethoven tour isn't until July 2005. :(

You saw TSO West, interesting variation of the set that they play. I would love to see a West show, they feature Bob Kinkle, and Al Petrelli on guitar.
TSO East is what I saw on 12/6, and again this Sunday at the Mohegan Sun Casino arena. Can't wait.
