I stumbled on a few little graphs and I thought that they were a neat way of classifying some things.

(I'm sure all of you disagree, but if you could avoid the posts like "YOUR POINT IS???" I'd appreciate it :)

<---------------- Education
Scientist | Engineer | Technician
Training ---------------->

<---------------- Learning To Think
Scientist | Engineer | Technician
Learning To Do ---------------->

<---------------- Weak Theory
Scientist | Engineer | Technician
Strong Theory ---------------->

Needs a clear definition. Education in the sense of pure studying, I find that engineers study more than "scientists."

Scientist | Engineer | Technician
Learning To Do ---------------->
I don't agree with this. Perhaps a slightly more accurate way to say it would be "Spends more time thinking" and "Spends more time doing".

<---------------- Weak Theory
Scientist | Engineer | Technician
Strong Theory ---------------->
Scientists have weak theory? ;) :p

Shouldn't that be other way around?

I didn't write it, I only posted it.

I speculate that they're saying scientists have more of a changing perspective whereas a technician has tried and tested the same process a thousand times and it works perfectly for him/her.

I think the learning to think thing means scientists have to think to push forward science, a technician just has to use what scientists already know/what the proved. But I think those things are too vague to actually mean anything anyways.
