One of my recent whims was to swim in the ocean, and to do so, I needed a wetsuit. I started looking into triathlon wetsuits, because they're designed to be easier to swim with than normal diving or general watersport suit. From there, I found out about aquathlons, which are basically triathlons sans biking portion. I used to run/swim, and water is my passion <3

I'm going to "compete" (for fun) in a 1000m swim / 5k run on 9/19, and if training goes well, possibly one of the same distances in August as well.

I'm going to post a training log here for moral support, since I have none IRL. I also was wondering if anyone here is a triathlete, duathlete (run/bike/run), or aquathlete?

Normally, I swim at the gym, but stopped for nearly 3 months due to some depression and personal issues.

7/14 - 25 minute run/jog, probably a bit under 3 miles.

I like!

I'm not a triathlete yet, but I'm training for a half iron triathlon next year at this time. I've got a triathlete trainer at my gym and a Total Immersion mentor helping me with my horrid swimming skills at this time. I'm decent on the bike, but my bike is NOT a TT machine. That should be embarassing, but if I do well my wife may relent and "let" me get a better ride. My main skill is running, and that is where most races are won and lost. So if I can survive the swim and fare decently on the bike, I stand the chance of being better than average overall due to a strong run. :)

There is a confirmed triathlete here at AT who can give you advice. His name is Skoorb, I saw him race last year. He's the real deal.

Duathlete here. Why aren't you interested in the bike? I don't "tri" because quite frankly I'm not that good of a swimmer.
