On the news this AM, the guy from the MBTA said they were opportunities for close-ups. Your answer sounds more believable.

Well in order for the cameras to give you a closeup of someone they need to know where that person is... hence the tracking 😛

It's just as likely the operator would want a close-up of something stationary, such as a package or suitcase.
 
Holy fvcking ads on msnbc, damn internet turning into bullcrap!!!

Oh and I didn't know trains could stop that fast!
