Why throw a red herring into this? I've said nothing of the sort of Stars and mind control rays that you throw up to obfuscate this discussion.

What they believe in does indeed make it true to them.
They may also think that you are effing nuts for not seeing what they do.
Even Western thought believes in action /reaction consequences when you accept Newton's Laws. To say that it doesn't apply to thoughts and actions is short sighted and narrow minded, in my opinion.

That is simply an expression of your beliefs.
The monks will disagree and point to several thousand years of their lives as proof.
That you say so, doesn't make it any less real for Christian, Jews, Buddhists, or even scientists.

I don't need proof to allow someone to have their beliefs.
Western "science" does not have all the answers to everything, nor are all the mysterious of the universe explainable, at this time in our development.

Read a little about quantum mechanics, then get back to me.
 
I can't believe this thread turned into a discussion about karma. :laugh:

Karma in a religious aspect is nonsense. That doesn't mean it isn't a universal truth, though. The law of karma is the law of cause and effect, nothing more. You can make it as "spiritual" as you want, that is what it boils down to.

There is nothing mysterious about it. The guy parked his car in front of a train. The train hit the car, the car hit him and he died. Simple cause and effect. My brain is too logical to look at it any other way. Everything can be explained through scientific, rational means - even if we don't currently have the understanding.

The aspect that we leave out of the whole "karma" thing, is our own minds. If you do something wrong, and that wrong is hanging on your conscious.. when something bad happens to you, you'll equate it with that "bad" thing. Perception has a lot to do with it...

The thoughts we think and hold in our minds have a much more profound effect on us and our surroundings than most people even begin to realize.
 
Thats why you run TOWARDS the train once you park the victim on the tracks.

They teach that in drivers education for if you get stuck on the tracks.

But of course, 99% of people are too stupid to know how to use a turning signal so it doesn't surprise me.

Wow, that thing is pretty mangled. Had it been a smaller car, she probably wouldn't have made it. Not that it really means anything, just saying.

It looks to me like the train impacted the car on the right rear door/fender area. If the guy had parked it a couple feet farther back she probably would have been killed regardless of what type of car it was.

Ding. It's obvious which way the car CANNOT be thrown. The fact that he was struck by the car proves that he was a complete moron. This is a good Darwin Award candidate.
 
Umm... wow. It's amazing she survived that. The 18 year-old nephew of a very old friend of mine was killed last year while a passenger in a car that was struck by an Amtrak. Everyone in the car died instantly. And yes, he was wearing his belt. They said that's the only reason he was able to have an open casket funeral.

And uh... I realize I'm almost a month late on this discussion, but this wasn't karma. Karma is not about being punished for a single act, it is the belief that the sum total of one's deeds creates "reality" for that individual and those around them. Think of it as the ultimate concept and awareness of personal responibility and causality, i.e. everything you do creates everything you are and know.
Blame Lennon I guess for the way people believe in "instant karma."
 
Oh man freaking awesome!

EDIT: A coworker told me that it turns out the guy was trying to kill them both. He just got ejected from the car in the collision.
 
What are you guys arguing for? Of COURSE Karma exists! There is a show about it and everything! This dude made a list and now he is making good on all of the bad things he ever did and great stuff is happening to him. He even got to see a hot latina chick bounce her boobies! Karma FTW!
