Train Horns

i'd love one of those. but does it really serve a purpose other than to scare the shit out of people?

my hella supertones are enough to demand authority on the road already

a lot of Donks have these for show down here...the rednecks use them on sportscars. I haven't been blasted but many dudes I know (esp my brother that owns a 996) have been.

It would be fun to blast at someone playing their music loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear, but going around blaring it at random pedestrians is just immature.

Keep in mind that up close, this could do damage to a little kid's ears.

That's classy. Another reason why people who use this have no class or self respect.

People who use these should get ticketed. There's some clown in my neighborhood who used his train horn ... and you can hear it two miles away. We stopped hearing it a few weeks ago ... perhaps he was fined or shot by someone for using it.

fuck it, I am going to slap a pair motor driven 5KW horn on top of a roof rack on our MB E350 4Matic. And paint it Fuchsia, should look nice on Black.

Is a horn like that street legal?

It might be a fair remedy for road rage. 🙂

No. Not in IL.

Would be funny first 2-3 times. After that, it just gets old.

I did laugh at the video but it seems like a real dumb idea to me.

Watch the "thugs" at 1:25.

No kidding. Scaring the crap out of complete strangers for your own amusement...lame.

If you use one of these on a cyclist in a large part of the U.S., your ass is grass.

If said cyclist crashes (which he will) and is injured (which he will be), you're 100% liable for all damages. And there are quite a few personal injury lawyers who have been trying this exact same case again and again for decades - having the horn in question specifically designed for annoying people just makes his job easier. Combine this with hardcore cyclists' tendency to be extremely vindictive, and you have a recipe for ruining someone's life.

AFAIK, all of the above goes double in Ohio.

Heck, I'd crash deliberately. You lose your license, I get a broken wrist or a sprained ankle....and a big lump of cash.

With that in mind it might be best just to run them over after you scare them off their bike.

You sound like a smug bitch. You're probably the type of biker that gives bikers a bad name, with your annoying attitude. You probably hog the entire road while riding.

It would be kind of funny to attach a train horn to a car security system & hidden secondary battery, and mount it in the cabin 😀. Just hope the system isn't accidentally triggered with you inside.

Steal THAT, asshole.

The issue with bicycles is that they run in the hazy ground between pedestrians and cars. Many decades of drunken assholes have left a precedent for cyclists assuming almost zero liability.

Also, you're actually required to run dead in the square of the lane when you're on a bicycle in some juristictions. Even if you aren't, it's good practice - people will often try to cut around you in the same lane, violating the minimum 3' space and often coming very close to hitting you in the head with rearview mirrors or sucking you over in their wake.

If you don't like it, send a letter to your governor and/or mayor.

Get them in two tones - a high F and a low F.

Oh, I am not getting a fixed frequency one. These 2 horns are going to pump Flight of the Valkyries.
