Looks like a reboot of the original. The VFX look a lot better that Toho's last Godzilla movie at least.
 
The only bad thing I have heard about Godzilla minus one is it is not playing in many theaters, and it does not have a long theater run. I hope it is still in the theater in my area this weekend when I will have time to go.
 
Watched it in Japan a couple of weeks ago, even though I don't understand a single word it is still a good simple movie. It is a kind of fresh air compared to today's CGI to death Sci-fi/fiction. As someone who doesn't follow Godzilla and think GvK was a shit movie, the end was a surprise.

Would recommend.

that makes sense since it is sub titled and probably not what mainstream American audiences prefer...also read somewhere that some Japanese acting is intentionally over-acted (think William Shatner LOL) which doesn't help Godzilla's case in the USA...

We saw the movie a few days ago and the character aspect was definitely a refreshing change over the other recent Godzilla/Kong movies...I think my girlfriend liked the movie more than I did which says something..

That was an "OK" monster movie but it wasn't "Godzilla" at all IMO.

The real Godzilla would have BBQ'ed that lame generic lizard with one fire-blast nevermind what King Ghidorah would have done with triple lightning bolts!

Watch the Japanese movie "Godzilla Final Wars" they have Godzilla fight the American Zilla (referred to as fish eating lizard). Quickest victory for Godzilla since Bambi meets Godzilla
