What exactly constitutes a commercial intersection... as in, what is it?

2 way, 2 lane roads with island or median in the middle?

Of all the things they could have been doing at the time, giving you a ticket for that (unless it was a dangerous manuver) was a waste.

spray paint over the no U-turn sign and then claim at the hearing that you didnt know that no u-turns were allowed. That's what my friend did.

In cali it's illegal in a business district unless posted otherwise.

I got one 2 days before Christmas a couple of years ago in Berkeley, CA. I believe the ticket was about 120. Merry Christmas to me! :frown:

You're partially right:

22102. No person in a business district shall make a U-turn, except at an intersection, or on a divided highway where an opening has been provided in accordance with Section 21651. This turning movement shall be made as close as practicable to the extreme left-hand edge of the lanes moving in the driver's direction of travel immediately prior to the initiation of the turning movement, when more than one lane in the direction of travel is present.

Amended Ch. 47, Stats. 1985. Effective January 1, 1986.

You can make one, just not in the middle of the road. Something I didn't know. Thanks for the heads up. :)

BTW - Cali Drivers: It might behoove you to get a $13 CA Vehicle Code handbook next time you're at the DMV. You can always reference it to settle arguments and fight tickets.

It's online too: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/vc.htm
