Traffic school is such a waste of time and money

So I had to do traffic school because of a horribly unjustified speeding ticket. 68 in a 65. I lost the case.

This is serious the single most useless thing I have done in my life. It's basically paying $40 for a piece of paper.

So I did this course online. They quoted 8 hours of class time + exam, right?
I registered for it at 11:35am EST. It's now 12:32pm EST. I finished the whole thing + a perfect score on the final exam in LESS THAN AN HOUR.

And this is supposed to solve problems and relief society of driving problems?

You got a ticket for going 3 over and couldn't beat it? What method was used to clock your speed and when was it last certified to be accurate within 3 mph?

At least it was easy and you get points taken off your license.. things could have been worse.

Did they make you take that horrible flash thing that shows crashes and shit? That was pretty clown

No, it's not supposed to help with driving problems.
It's supposed to help the budgets of police departments.

It was a radar gun. I got it ticketed at some ass backwards place on US-101. I sent in my written declaration and the next day was found guilty. Not saying anything but I know I was gyped....it's ridiculous.

The online courses in TX have timers that make you to have the page up for the required time.

No, like I said. I finished the course in 58 minutes. I didn't even read a single thing and I was able to pass the final exam with a perfect score.

There are basic speed laws in California and there are possible instrument errors. Don't tell me you wouldn't fight the ticket if you did get into a nasty situation like mine.

Plus the fine was like $200.

The confusion is that unless the cop was sitting in the passenger seat (or at least pacing him), he can't know the driver's speed with <3 mph accuracy. Should have been easy to beat. This is why most cops wait until you're five or ten over at least.

That's what I thought too, but it didn't swing apparently...3 mph was apparently good enough for the wad prosectuing me.

Can you guarantee your speedo is 100% accurate? Do you never slightly go over the limit? Would you happily accept a ticket for one of those reasons?

It's less than 5% different from the posted speed limit.
I could see MAYBE somebody getting pulled over for going 68 in a 65 if there was a blizzard, and getting a warning, but I can't even conceptualize somebody getting a ticket for it with normal conditions.

Sucks even worse that he somehow lost the case.

Close enough. Young Asian male in a white/Latino ass backwards county 30 miles north of Santa Barbara. Under that condition it makes me basically black.

In my home town, the town "marshals" were fresh out of the academy and were told to enforce the 30mph speed limit. Tickets were written constantly for 31 in a 30mph zone, and after proving the instruments were accurate, the Judge made the fines stick....Town had 360 or so people in it and this is how they were treated by the county.

The point with Traffic school is to reduce the amount of points on your license and to teach you a boring ass lesson.

I would drive 5 MPH if I lived there and a "marshal" was behind me. Just to piss him off.

Funny thing is, we would get in a car and just constantly drive around in the evening, passing the cop numerous times. Eventually we would get pulled over for suspicious behavior. On of the marshals actually lived in our town. When we found out he was selling weed, he didn't bother us anymore.
