lol, whenever my girlfriend watches that show, i tell her how the guys really dont like the rooms at all. I told her i wouldnt even lie to the camera if someone crapped up my house like that.

anyone see the yamaha commercials making fun of trading spaces? they are like.. bam.. lets make the room better! and they just add a motorcycle or jet ski or something and the guy goes nuts.

Drywall is very fire resistant. I think Redly1's point is that the stuff they do provokes a fire incident that would otherwise not occur.


I hate it when they take existing furniture, and then paint it some ugly furniture and tack other things to it. Like once they took a stool and screwed a big aluminum pot to it??? Or this one show they put up a tire swing inside a play room, it was right next to a window??? "Okay kids, this room is cool to show guests, but please don't play in it."

There are some hidden secrets as well that really make the show worse. (1) They don't include supplies in the $1000 price tag. That means nails, screws, paint brushes, floor protection cloths, tape, etc are all excluded from the price. (2) They have two carpenters for every show. There is one carpenter that does most of the work and then Ty or Amy take all the credit - and get to be on TV since they are better looking. No where on the show do they give the real carpenter any credit for all his/her hard work. (3) The homework that they make it look like the neighbors do alone isn't actually done by the neighbors alone. The decorators, carpenters, etc all stay until the work is finished (otherwise their whole 2 people redoing a room in 2 days theme could never happen).

The proof is in the show. On the last episode that aired yesterday, Vern himself said he stayed all night and they got no sleep at all. So that proves #3. #2 is obvious from the thinks that Vern has the carpenters do. There is no humanly possible way for one person to make all of Vern's detailed furnature, make furnature for the other designer, and install both in just two days. Common sense should prove that. #1 doesn't have proof on the show itself (as far as I have seen). But the link Dman posted halfway above discusses it:
"Secret #9, Ty and fellow carpenter Amy Wynn Pastor don't do all of the building, though they know how. They spend a lot of time on-camera, so Eddie is the unsung hero behind Spaces' amazing, fast construction."
"Secret #11, The $1,000 budget doesn't cover general supplies, which come out of a production budget of reportedly $30,000 per episode."
"Secret #13, Even after the cameras are turned off, the designers keep working. Vern stayed past midnight to help the Greens."
