trading middle man

Hi guys,

I'm not a real big trader on here as you can see from my heat. And I haven't been scam yet because i really only trade with people who whom has lots of heat. But with the troll problem around all the time I was playing diablo 2 the other day and was at d2jsp.org and I wonder if the trades can be made through a middle man like d2.

Here's how it would kinda work. First you would have to have moderators/middleman(watever you want to call them) that is trust worthy and is on often. Of course anandtech would have to check their credentials and they have to provide legitmate paperwork/id.

When someone is buying or selling something, both parties would ship item/send money to the middleman once he gets both of them, he forwards them on to the other party. This of course would eliminate the trolls. Of course if the middle man is not paying the charges for shipping and any fees involving money transfer, so it will have to come out of both the seller and buyer.

I dont' know if this could ever work, but if this does trolls be eleminated. Oh yeah, buyer and seller can't ask for a specific middleman, they have to use whoever is provide by anandtech.

Just a thought.

Not a high enough occurrence of trolling on the AT FS/FT forum for this to be viable IMO. Sure, the occasional person gets burned, but it's not often enough to warrant this. Besides, who want to pay shipping once, much less twice?

As long as you take proper precautions, you should have little fear of being trolled. Be sure to get a phone number of the person you plan on dealing with and call them, especially on higher cost items. If the deal is too good to be true, let it go. The savings may not be worth the possibility of a total loss or scam.

It is an interesting thought. There are some 3rd party companies that already do this if you need something in the immediate future. As Gillbot said, doing your research on who you are trading with is a big part of trading at all 🙂
