Trading in my 9700Pro

Is there any place trading in the 9700Pro's for an upgraded 9800Pro? ATI's site don't do the 9700 for some reason. I guess they don't even make the 9700 anymore either, I guess I bought the bastard child, hehe.

not worth the trade, the 9700 is a wonderful card that comes very very close to the performance of the 9800.

You usually don't get much at retail places, such as ati's website for tradins. It's usually better to sell outright and buy your new card, or maybe you'll get lucky and find an individual in the fs/ft forums who wants such a trade.

Sold mine 2 weeks ago and upgraded to a 9800 PRO and couldn't be happier. I was able to help out a friend in the process and the upgrade was easy on the pockets.

Unless you had a chance like the guy above me, don't bother upgrading. The 9700 Pro, although about 8 months old, can still hold its own against the best of them. Sure there are some improvements on the 9800 Pro that increase the performance by 5-10%, but you're just fine. The 9800 Pro is out for already about 2 months, then four months from now, are you gonna trade again for the new generation card. Just settle down and take it easy upgrade every other generation and go for the high-end cards.
