Trading Deadline 2006

So the deadline has come and gone, what do you think of the deals that have gone down, and the ones that may not have been announced yet?

I'm hoping the deadline didn't go by without the Red Sox making a move, we need some pitching badly. I think the Yankees made a good move snagging Abreu, though it's going to make it tougher for the BoSox down the stretch.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Indians gave up another good player in Belliard. I hope to god Shapiro knows what the hell he's doing, because so far he's given away good players for bad players. At this rate there's no way we can compete in the Central...

I think there are more deals that we haven't heard about yet, give it a few hours

I've been dilligently searching lots of websites for the past few hours. WRU blockbuster trade?

I hope that the Astros did not make a move for Soriano. The last thing I want to see is a deal that will ruin the future of the ball club to try to save a dismal season.

Bah, he's a free agent after this season anyway.

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced they have acquired outfielder Xavier Nady (pronounced NEIGH-dee) from the New York Mets in exchange for right-handed pitcher Roberto Hernandez and left-handed pitcher Oliver Perez. The announcement was made by Dave Littlefield, the Pirates' Senior Vice President and General Manager.

The Rangers getting Lee was a great trade. Getting a pitcher with a 6.68 ERA, and a DH/1B bench player doesn't solve their pitching problems. Looks like no playoffs for the Rangers this year :disgust:

I thought they had a chance when they lead the division most of the year after signing Kevin Millwood in the offseason. If Eaton is healthy, they have the makings of a solid rotation, but they need a #2 guy, or move Millwood to #2 and get an ace like Dontrelle Willias. Oh well.
