So far yes. The next 3 upgrades I'm hoping to see a combined 70RWHP and 100ftlb tourque through it all, maby a lil more depending. I have to spend the cash though on a new valve kit for the tranny so it doesn't shift so lightly, it'll eat out all the gears if it stays so soft. Firmer shits=more bounce in the shift but also = less tranny wear. I also have to wonder if these 3.73 gears are enough to handle launching a 5,500lb+ truck..

Of course, you could always drive something that weighs less if performance is your thing...hey, some guys are into fat chicks though I guess.

Then it's no different. It's like everyone has a tricked out civic. A puny little import piece of shitake. They sound like pissed off bumble bees in a honey factory, have crapy graphics, wheels too big for their frames, and as much stock horsepower as my garden tractor. Upgrades to a fat ass truck: 3,000$. Expression on ricers face when your 6,000lb car out does his 1/4 mile. Priceless. 😀

He is exaggerating the weight a bit. Its only around 4200lbs. My 89 caravan only weighs 3300lbs.

A CAT scale put my Expedition at 5580 pounds with with me at a 3/4 tank of gas. Subtract that and you hat 5300lb dry weight minimum. I'm 168lb, then take out some gas weight.

Well the Astro Weighs 4000lbs. And for me its not really the performance I like of it, its really the fact it can be done, and the looks on peoples faces when the realize that what may sound like a van missing its muffler, is not that at all when I punch it and the 4000lb van turns into a rocket leaving anyone in the dust, and a nice tire patch as it pulls away.

It great to me because it is different, fast for its size, and with a 700r4 tranny will get almost 30mpg, provided I can keep my foot out of it. And to be honest Im not so sure it even weighs that much because if I keep my foot still going up a hill I only lose 2-3 mph, where as my Lincoln I traded for it would of lost 10-15 mph, and it had a v8 as well, and didnt weigh as much. If I can find a place near me to weigh it I will just for my own self because I am wondering. Still wont change what I want to do to it though, no matter what the weight turns out to be, I love this thing.

Back when I was a currier for a bank I used to drive a '74 Ford Econoline Van, the one with the totally flat front end. It was the extra short version they came out with that year only. It was shorter than a Gremlin. I used to call it the rolling phone booth.

It had a 302 ci and would shit and get it. I always wanted to build a sleeper out of one.
