So can you use the $$ on anything in the store, or just the stuff on that page of the ad? Might have to see if I can get the old machine running again. . . ;)

No, you can't trade in your old laptop and get a digital camera for free. :p You can only get a credit towards certain items depending on what you're trading in.

you can only trade in your item for a new version of the same...
ie laptop for laptop
desktop for desktop
etc

The linked page is empty, no ads detail?

Can someone tell me the detail if I want to trade in my old notebook?

:Q whoah you've had some bad luck! HP makes awesome printers with awesome quality. And Lexmark really sucks imo.

it would be awesome to use this with any current manufacturers rebate.

laptops have to be more than 166mhz, -- $300 discount
desktops more than 300mhz -- $200 discount
any 35mm camera -- 50 discount

Also, if trade in savings come via a rebate, you could use a BVG pricematch for further savings

Also it seems that you can only trade-in brand names:

Trade in your Windows®-based desktop computer 300MHz or Faster and
SAVE $200 INSTANTLY Trade-in must take place and instant savings must be used at time of new product purchase. Limit one
trade-in instant savings per new product purchased. Trade-in instant savings good towards purchase
of a new desktop. Qualifying trade-in products include: HP Pavilion, IBM Aptiva, Compaq Presario,
Sony VAIO® and Toshiba Satellite.
Computers must be in working order and must include
mouse, keyboard and power cord to receive full savings value. Defective
computers or those with physical damage will receive 50% of the
full savings value. See store for details.

WhOAH!! IS RIGHT! Lexmark has been continously going DOWN in quality and I used to know a Epson Rep. who told me that their printers weren't as high in quality as HPs....I just junked my last Canon which would only beep and blink lights for no good reason....and got an HP 1100....GREAT PRINTER...when u have an HP u forget that u have to change the black ink b/c it lasts so long! the only complaint that i have against HP is their inablity to make decent drivers...

Processor-Based Desktop or Notebook
Computer 166MHz or faster and
TRADE IN NEW!
SAVE $250 INSTANTLY!

umm WTF? there weren't any G3's that speed. sure as hell aren't any g4's. that's a crappy offer IMHO. below ebay prices for g3's and definitely g4's.

(emphasis mine)

So, I have a dead IBM laptop, no Battery, no HDD, No CD. If I read this right (probably wishful thinking), I could get up to $150 (half of the $300) credit?

Could I possibly, with the right CSR, get credit? Not sure from reading what I've seen. Not trying to cheat, just to get the most out of their offer.

May have to go to a compUSA this weekend....

Yeah, I've got 2 Apple Powerbook 1400C Laptops that are actually in Working condition. Wonder if these will qualify? OR how about a Toshiba Libretto 70CT? I got 1 or 2 working ones of those as well. -TAL

If somebody can confirm that CompUSA will accept non-brand-name systems for trade-in, that would be KEWL

Otherwise, their ad says only certain toshibas, compaqs, sony, etc will be accepted for desktops
