Tracking monthly data usage on my desktop?

I can tether 6gigs of data from my phone.
I have a wireless adapter on my desktop.

was thinking of cutting my internet service and save a few $.

but 1st I need to know my desktop's typical monthly data usage.

recommend a (free) program?

Your router might keep track. (Mine does. 115GB transferred in the last 30 days.)

Well if you have Windows 10 I believe it can track usage on its own. That is under the Windows 10 settings app under Network & Internet.

I believe that 8.1 and 10 can both mark a connection as "metered" to minimize background data use as well.
