well this is all EVGA has to say about the superclocked GTX as of friday

Tony,

We are doing our best to meet the overwhelming demand for this card. As soon as it has been allocated to you, you will receive a notification in your email. Unfortunately, I do not have an exact ETA currently available. I apologize for the inconvenience.

They use them for RMAs. They also might sell them as refurbished cards, but I'm not sure on that.

Have been stuck at # 6 on the 7900 GT for like 3 days now. Looks like they release a bunch of the CO cards.

Luckily i got a bunch of PCI cards lying around to keep my baby alive for a week.

P.S. Anybody knows if the hieght of the 7900 GT is same at the 6600 GT? reason I ask is cos my Mobos PCI slots are so close to the PCI-X that my current 6600 GT just manages not to scrape the Network Card.

There's no such thing as a PCI-X 6600GT. =)

Well PCI-Express can be written as PCI-X or PCI-E

Anyway, the 7900GT uses a pretty small heatsink which shouldn't be any higher than a common 6600GT heatsink . . .

My understanding (which I admit could be wrong) is that PCI-X and PCI-E are actually different standards.

Edit: "PCI-E and PCI-X are often confused with each other, mostly because the names are similar. That's where their likenesses end, however, as the two are not interchangeable."

So how long would it take to get the 7900GTX Superclocked? I haven't signed up for the step up yet. Reason I am asking is school ends early May for me, so I need to know where I should have my new card shipped to (home or school).

I entered the program 3/11/06 at the queue # of 202.. as of this date I am at # 167..if that helps any..(hopefully EVGA will get a new shipment and be able to move forward with the GTX SC line)..I know these are "cherry picked" cards.. but my goodness...lol

Sent my 7800GT Saturday via Fedex. Was told it will get to eVGA this Friday. How long has it taken eVGA to do the turn around on their part? Will I get the 7900GT co superoverclocked by the following Friday or longer? Just trying to get a feel for when to expect my new card.

Also Im concerned that I will get hit with the 15% restocking charge because I didn't include COD 2 or the warranty registration card that came with the 7800GT I sent to them. Is EVGA that picky?

Mine is #242 as of today as compared to #269 when I first entered the upgrade program over two weeks ago. At this rate I won't get mine (GTX SC) until 8 motnhs from now or I may as well just wait for the next Nvidia gen of g/c. Needless to say I'm very muc p^^ed off by this hard launch bs from Nvidia themselves.

You'll be fine. The game is yours to keep. Read their FAQs

I just sent mine via FedEx 2-day. They'll have it Wednesday afternoon. I hope they ship the replacement by Friday.

For me, the turnaround was two days. In your case, since it's five days shipping each direction, you won't get the card until the Tuesday two weeks from now (April 11) at the earliest.

I just upgraded from a Geforce 4 MX to a EVGA 7900 GT, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to do this step up process when the 8 Series comes out.

Can you guys tell me how long it took from when you put your card in the mail, to when you recieved the card?

I'm trying to figure out how long I'd be with out one if I tried the step-up when 8 series comes out.

Think your out of luck (someone correct me if Im wrong). The step up program is only good for 90days from the date you bought your 7900GT. When is the 8 series due to be released?

Getting the card through UPS ground to save a few dollars was a very stupid idea. They have been processing the package in LA for 2 days now. And I am not going to get the card till tomorrow. 5 days to get a card delivered from Brea to the bay area :-(

Yeah, I wasn't thinking ahead when I requested UPS Ground. I may call to see if I can upgrade the shipping.

3/9 - Applied for Step-Up (7800GT->7900GT)
3/17 - Received notice that my number was up and sent PDF of invoice
3/20 - Received notice that my RMA was a go and I was set to send back card.
3/23 - Sent it via DHL, the cheapest way possible. ($8.50) ETA 3/29

I bought another 7900GT from Newegg to have on hand while Step-Up was in progress, so I'll be SLIed eventually. I feel for all who are w/o their rigs due to the lack of CI-E cards to fill in. That's why I bought the 2nd card. Sucks for those less afluent. They really should do a cross-ship deal where they bill you for the card they send and then credit you when they receive your trade. Don't send it back? You eat the charge. Simple.

Thank you for the info. 9 days is a while to go without it, but I'd rather wait than have to purchase another card.

Hmm .. I agree with starwars7. Although this is a personal preference, but I think I can't justify spending double the money on SLI when a single 7900 keeps me very well above the average gamer .. and lets me play everything at a fairly high level.
And I would prefer to use my laptop for work and other useful stuff while I wait for the 7900 to arrive. I think I can happily miss on a few playing days (And everything else that the desktop gives me) for upgrading from 7800 to 7900 for almost nothing :)
