Tracking Chip

Team,
This is the closest thread that I could find for my question. Does anyone know where I could buy some sorda tracking chip that I can place in my computer if it gets stolen? This would be a great thing!

While that's probably one of the better known solutions, isn't that completely countered by wiping the drive clean before internet access?

As for hardware solutions, I don't think there are too many computer specific items on the market, however there are many child safety and other such things that utilize small chips that can be tracked should the need arise. Your best bet is getting something like that, as small as you're willing to pay for and then install it into some part of your computer as discretely as possible.

Though most people prefer prevention to recovery, so maybe look into solid strength locks/cables that you can use instead.

Yeah, but a computer is cheap, data is expensive.

Mmm for some people it is, for others the hardware is far more valuable. I for example put nothing that isn't easily replaced from my desktops/online on my laptop and just use it for light matters, or doing stuff on the go. Depends more on the instance so up to the OP if he just wants to make sure no one gets his info, or he just wants the hardware more secure.
