Trackball question

Hi!

I have a Microsoft trackball. When I first got it the movement was really smooth and has little resistance. But now the movement is heavy and sticky. I've tried lubricating it with WD40 (squirt it into a paper towel and gently dab the parts that contact the ball) and it helps for a short time, but then ball movement becomes worse, stickier than ever. Is it possible to make the ball movement smooth & easy like when it was new? What should I do?

I don't have that rackball(have a Logitech trackman marble+), but what you need to do is remove the ball and clean the guides(quite likely little ball bearings). The guides get gunked up with lint and stuff. If you have a manual it probably states how best to clean the guides, for me, I just use my finger to remove the crap.
