Tracert OK but no https or SSH

http://forums.anandtech.com/images/smilies/familiar/thinking.pngHere's the problem.

I have been connecting to a remote server (lets say its called server 1)for some 4 months with no problems. I access via https and also occasionally use Putty for more direct usage.

Today, https and Putty access fails. I can ping and tracert reaches it in 11 hops and everything reports OK. I can access the remote router via https the server is attached to and everything is as expected i.e no changes. The server IP is active on the remote router and the log reports no errors.

Another server (called server 2), also connected to the same external router can be reached with no problems so the problem is with the server 1.
Have checked the DNS numbers, all OK.

Any help from any one?

Nine times out of ten when I run into an odd connectivity problem like this, it's Windows Firewall. Assuming these are windows servers, check to make sure the connection type is set properly (sometimes if you lose connectivity it'll register as a new connection and ask you work/public/home again and default to public when you dont choose anything).
