What does that have to do with safety features? Air bags, traction control, seat belts...

Also what government is adding these, usually the government places a requirement that there are active safety devices and the manufacturer adds them.

The "government" doesn't add them, they mandate that manuafcturers add them, then consumers have to pay for them, whether they're wanted or not! Personally, I'd rather pocket the $1,000.00 instead of having an airbag ready to blow up in my face at all times.

So that when the error occurs people don't die, or die less often, or aren't hurt as bad as they otherwise would be? Perhaps then it might decrease the number and costs of insurance settlements, thus lowering your premiums?

Yup airbags, crumple zones, laminated windshields to keep road objects from piercing the windshield, safety glass side windows that shatters into crumbs instead of glass shards, side imbact door beams, padded dashboards, steering wheels that don't separate from the steering column and impale you during an accident, and seat belts all suck.

It should be based on consumer's choice, NOT government sticking its nose in. Seatbelt and helmet laws are another example of too much government intrusion.

They don't. But then It's a theory and I wouldn't know a whole lot about the issue. Maybe insurance premiums are higher for people driving bikes and tiny cars. Beats me, I've never owned either.
