pretty cool if you ask me, though i dont know much about hybrid cars.

a few quick questions: what are the benefits of a hybrid engine besides gas effeciency? will they really save that much $$$? quietness? power? and do you have to electrically "recharge" it?!?!?

How much horsepower will the 4 banger have or is it measured some other way (other than HP)?

The problem is that Camry is overpriced compare to a comparable model by Honda or Mitsubishi. So It's going to be MORE expensive with the hybrid engine.

Wait till they start using the electric portion of the engine as an on-demand supercharger....

It will get better.....I think toyota will be the first. I have only read about their interest in it..nothing so far from Honda etc...

Considering that it has no problem kicking the sh!t out of the Accord year after year in sales, it's a non issue;) And Mitsu doesn't even compare in this class.

I'm still hesitent because of lack of long term reliability and cost of ownership.

How much are these things going to cost in terms of wear and tear in over 10 years time? How well will they still be running in 10 years? Ect.

The difference in sales figures between the Accord and Camry in 2003 is less than 5%

I'm talking about for the past 10 years. The Camry has outsold the Accord for 9 out of the past 10 years. Consistency is key here.

no u do not have to recharge it.

and u dont save money for awhile since it costs a bit more than a nonhybrid version of it. however, i personally would get it for environental reasons.

That "boring" car brings in a lot of $$$ to Toyota and has been one of the best selling, most reliable "appliances" on earth. It's one thing to knock a car for being crap, but it's complete farse to knock a car for being good at what it does consistently and reliably for YEARS!

Chill. He did not knock thre reliability or quality of the Camry, he merely said it was a boring car, which is true. ;)
