Toyota Supra Turbo 8.90 at 163 MPH 1/4

Where is the info on the Supra being driven every day ?

I bet that Supra is a blown purpose built drag car, just a slow one.
😉

That Supra isn't daily driven.

It could be, and the GTO could not. Power Windows and AC = HEAVY! Not something you put in a car that you want to do 163mph in 8.9

Maybe you should go to their site and look at the pictures of them loading it onto a trailer.

Its not a daily driver.

That is baloney. On top of that the Pontiac isn't a blower car, as near as I've been able to find out. It uses a pro-stock engine that could probably run all day.

It would be just as streetable as the Supra, probably more so.

btw, I mostly just wanted to throw that video in the mix. That Pontiac sounds too sweet !!

Arnie "the Farmer" Beswick had a real pontiac back in 1962. It was a Catalina SD (super duty) 421 making a factory 405 hp. It won A/FX back then.

A class FX (factory experimental) was basically a stock class on steroids. Very few cars were made but they sure screamed.
B class FX was owned by Mopar with their Max Wedge 413 making 415 hp.
C class FX was up for grabs but mostly Chevy owned.

FX classes didn't get way out of hand until 1964 when Chrysler moved the rear axle forward 4 inches. Thus the short but awesome reign of the Altered Wheelbase cars. This is the root of the Funny Car class.

That was definately a cool era, those were some of the first drag cars I got to watch.

But the car in the video is basically a 1964 GTO Pro-Stock, I haven't found all the details yet, but it is closer to a Pro-stock than a funny car.
