S2000 is nice, but a miata with a supercharger would be hard to beat.

2007 Miata 2400lb
2007 S2000 2800lb

less than 1/4th of a ton

Yeah the new generation is 2400lb, but I'm not a fan of the third generation anyways.
The 1st generation is 2070lbs, and the 2nd generation is 2200lbs, while the S2000 is 2855lbs.

I reeeeally don't like the S2000 as a daily driver... way to RPM-needy. It's slow unless you drive it like you hate it (rpms @ 6000 or above all the time). Just way too much adrenaline for a 45-minute commute...

Of course, those aren't in the same price range; but if I was to be given one that'd be my choices

Reverse the order for me.

That's part of the appeal, it's got the Jekyll/Hyde thing going on quite nicely. Shift at three or four grand, and it drives as calmly and quietly as a Civic. Even gets good mileage that way, purring along at low speeds. Then, when the kid with the aluminum wing, fart-can, and "MAX POWER" windshield banner on his Cutlass Supreme revs at you from the next lane, you blip the throttle down to second gear and give him an earful of Junior-F1. ;)

However, I agree with Beau as well. It's hard to resist the urge of ripping off nine-grand shifts in bursts of five. :D

Some things going for the Miata:

-costs less
-probably most reliable, and when it needs repaired, its the easiest and cheapest
-low power makes it incredibly easy to drive and forgiving in the corners
-huge cheap aftermarket
-don't have to worry about ricers blipping their throttle at you at every intersection
-less worry of theft

I'll agree that the S2000 is a better track car for the experienced driver. Its also better looking than any of the bunch. But you pay for it and it comes with compromises. I cycle through cars pretty often and I'll probably pick up an S2K at some point in time but you can't go wrong with any of the three.

Hahaha, very well said

What's nice is that you can put the top down and enjoy the car. It's a convertible, but with amazing driving characteristics. Very nice car to enjoy on a nice day.

they aren't really in the same price range, but if you can afford it, the S2000 is the run-away winner of that three. C&D named it the second most-fun weekend car, with only the Lotus Elise topping it.

the S2000 is in a different class. it belongs with the group with the base Z4 and porsche boxster

between the MR-S and the miata, last generation's miata proved to be superior of the two... not that the miata came out... there should be no comparison.
