Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it was recalling about 30,000 Scion tC sports coupes over concerns that the side air bags could inadvertently deploy if the door is slammed forcefully.

Lol
Whoops.

Looks like they took my advice of adding ball bearings into the airbags to cut down on lawsuits from people who have it deployed accidentally. Now..... if only there was a way to handle the family.

They should recall them all and take them permanently off the road so we wouldn't have to look at those ugly cars.

 The tC is extremely good looking. Or do you just have no idea what you're talking about?

Eh, it's not like those airbags would do anything anyways if that car were hit by a pickup or suv, seeing as it looks like it's made out of plastic.

I honestly think the tC is the best "economy" car (in terms of bang for the buck) right now. I was just looking at Civics yesterday...invoice for the LX with manual is over $17k before fees -- wtf? When I bought my LX 5-speed new in 2003 it was $13,500 for one with side airbags. I think a tC can be had for $16.4k? That's pretty cheap in today's ridiculous car market...

It doesn't matter what it's made of. The point is having an airbag between you and the side of the car moving towards you.

Or you get what you pay for, one of the two.

Any car that can only do 30mpg highway does not deserve to be called an economy car. They should've just put a corolla motor in there.

The tC is actually pretty good looking, but the xB is horrible. I like to refer to them as bread box cars.

I got 35mpg going 75mph with the AC turned off in my Scion TC, driving from VA to CA

When I did turn the AC on, MPG dropped to 31

And I had nearly all my belongings packed into my Scion TC, i had the rear seats folded down and got a lot of room with the hatchback

You pay for what you get.

My Scion TC was 15,945 for a fully loaded hatchback with a Camry engine, sounds like a good deal to me

The tC is a very nice looking hatch coupe.
There is no other car that looks like a coupe but has the versatility of a hatch back when you need all that room.
The RSX come close but it has no where near as much room as the tC.

That's why I tell people not to fvcking slap the fvcking door when they exit the vehicle. What's the ****** point? I'm seriously gonna ban people from riding my tC from now on.
