yes, despite the fact that you can probably save more money with regular Camry compare to hybrid camry, people will buy it anyway just to feel good.

I'm so green and getting one of those environment friendly cars! I will then put a lot of environment love stickers all over it that further prove that I love the trees and you do not.

It's actually quite a few gallons of gasoline provided you aren't doing all highway driving or something.. Of course your house's energy usage probably eclipses that.

Hybrid Accord is out already, not big deal. The fuel savings are pretty pathetic compared to the hybrid price premium. You are going to save 1 cent a mile on the highway and 2 cents a mile in the city.
Edmunds.com true cost to own:
Honda Accord Hybrid: $0.57 per mile.
Honda Accord V6 EX $0.52 per mile.
And the EX comes with the sunroof, which was dropped from the hybrid to save weight and post these mileage numbers.
So hybrid ends up costing 10% more to own while providing fewer features than the nonhybrid alternative.

That's fine...with all the gasoline that the enviro-weenies are saving, that leaves more for me to burn with my 'evil' and 'inefficient' V-8 :D :D :D

Well, emissions must be lower on these hybrids, so I'm sure that's a plus to some.

because the environment loves massive amounts of batteries replaced every 6 years!

That's only the Insight. The Civic Hybrid and Pruis get around 600 miles on a tank.

Why should we make fun of early adopters for buying "next-gen" cars but not other technology? Aren't they paving the way for lower prices and more investment in these new vehicles?

The manufacturer warranty is around 100,000 miles (a number I saw toyota use on the prius, not sure if it applies to other models or manufacturers). I saw an article that said using aftermarket batteries you could replace them all for about $200.

I assume they'd be recyclable. I googled and found these articles...

Also, Toyota anticipated this dilemma...
