Toyota enhances safety of SUVs by putting std. electronic stability control on all SUV's including RAV4

Hmmmm,
A car that need stability control to prevent roll overs is a bad car and this goes for all SUV.
Sure a SUV is a practical car but not very safe.

Bring back the good old station wagon.

WTF are you talking about?

ESP/ESC is not all about preventing a vehicle from rolling over. It's about keeping a vehicle on its intended course during extreme maneuvers.

Yeah, and when it's not on its course it will skid and roll over like other SUVs.

The Japanese manufacturer will equip all of its SUVs, including the new entry-level RAV4, with electronic stability control systems. The devices, known by a variety of brand names, intervene to prevent the type of skidding that often precedes deadly rollovers.

But your statement pretty much says that a vehicle that has ESC is a badly designed vehicle. That is completely false.

No no no. I was saying that SUVs are unsafe not that cars with ESC is badly designed.

Dude, you need to learn how to rephrase your sentences or something😉

"A car that need stability control to prevent roll overs is a bad car and this goes for all SUV."

That means (at least the way you wrote it):

(1) A car that needs ESC is a bad car
(2) Same goes for SUVs

And again, ESC's main focus is not to prevent rollovers. It's to keep the car/truck on its intended course during driving.

Um ,maybe. Yeah I know what the point of ESC is, so in the case of SUVs it prevents roll overs.
Gaaah..... you know what I meant by know. 😉

NO, you're missing the point again🙂 ESC on SUV's is there for the exact same reason as it is for cars. To keep the vehicle pointed in the right direction. It just so happens that an added side effect of this is that it helps prevent a rollover (which could also happen to a car, just a lesser chance) in the first place as the vehicle isn't heading off into a ditch somewhere.

YES I KNOW THAT!
My point was that SUVs have a tendency to roll over when they skid sideways and by preventing that it also help preventing roll overs, as a side effect.
Look at the Mercedes A-class. It rolled over in a test so MB came up with stability control to help prevent that.
