Recently bought a used Toyota Yaris (European version of hatchback Echo) and found the gear change problematic. after reading this thread on toyotaownersclub.com I realized this is an issue with that model, not just my unit. I sent an e-mail to Toyota-Europe about this and even added the link and waited. and waited. It has been more than 20 days of waiting and still no reply; so I sent a mail to Toyota USA and asked them to forward my request to the European center or direct me to an operating contact form or e-mail, if possible... they sent me an automated reply, twice:

I did call the local dealership the mechanic there told me he has no idea what I am talking about; He offered to take a ride in it and experience for himself. What bothers me the most is that Toyota has been ignoring me - that makes me believe this is an issue they would rather cover up.

why don't you let the mechanic take a ride in it. If it's defective, I think it's in his best interest to tell you so he can have your car in his shop for repair.
And this way, when you call Toyota about your problem, you can say that a Toyota tech also found the problem in your car that many people seem to have reported.
