I just went to Scion.com and did the live chat.... here is the stuff:
Please wait for a Scion Customer Advocate to respond. You are number 1 in queue.
You are now chatting with Nicole
Nicole: Hello. How may I assist you?
Matt: Just a couple of quick questions about the upcoming tC
Matt: I have heard rumors that the car will be sold at MSRP only. Is that true?
Nicole: Well, not exactly. Since every Scion dealership is independently owned and operated, the dealership has the right to price the vehicle at their discretion. However, with Scion we practice Pure Price. This means that you pay the dealer's posted or advertised price. No negotiation.
Nicole: Because of this, the dealer's posted prices tend to be close to the suggested MSRP.
Nicole: However, you won't necessarily pay the MSRP.
Matt: cool
Matt: Also, I have heard rumors about
Matt: the production numbers being low initally and that there might be a waiting list
Matt: like with the prius
Matt: of up to 4 to 6 months. Is there any validity to that
Matt: ?
Nicole: We anticipate that all Scion dealers will have a tC by 4th of July weekend for test driving purposes.
Nicole: The tC will be available for mainstream purchase in mid-to-late July.
Nicole: Since we are not able to predict the demand for the tC, we recommend that you determine if your selling dealer has a wait list &/or are taking deposits. This will increase your chances of being one of the first tC owners.
Matt: so if they say that there appears to be a 4 month wait list, they may be correct?
Nicole: It is possible.....it is possible that they have already sold their allocation for the 4-month period. This is how it works:
Nicole: Every dealership is provided with a very specific monthly allocation.
Nicole: One dealer's allocation is not related to another dealer's allocation\
Nicole: Allocation varies from dealer to dealer based on dealer size, etc
Nicole: So, if one dealer has sold all tC's for a 4-month period, the dealer down the street may not have sold any....
Nicole: If you are interested in getting the tC ASAP....we recommend that you begin the research now (again, we cannot predict the demand). Maybe call several dealers & determine what their wait list is looking like.
Matt: That makes sense. Thank you for answering my questions. It looks like it is going to be a great car.
