Toyota Camry vs. Honda Accord

Yep both are family cars, so forget about excitement there. You can't go wrong buying either one. Personally, the Camry suspension is a bit too soft for my taste, but it's quieter than the Accord.

I honestly think the Honda looks better, even though I think it doesn't look that nice.

the Camry looks like a bloated Daewoo.. absolutely gawdy looks if you ask me.

I'd go for the Accord ove the Camry any time. the 240HP engine is pretty nice in the Honda.

Same engine from the NSX?? BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 😀

Identical dimensions 2997c.c (I am talking about the old NSX) and I mentioned that it is a detuned version of the NSX engine. Atleast the accord V6 in India uses that engine....

i like Honda...i think they are a little better quality and Honda just refines the little details and it makes up a better product.

i have a pilot

Just b/c the two have the same displacement doesn't make them the same (or even related). The NSX has always used a DOHC design. The Accord engine is SOHC.

True, just that the cylinder head is different. But the bore and the stroke are the same. And when you have an SOHC cylinder head, its obviously a detuned NSX engine.....got my point?

NSX's engine is C-Series:

C32A 3.2 24V DOHC VTEC PGM-FI 3197 280hp@7300rpm 224tq@5400rpm. 02 NSX

Accord's engine is J-Series related to these engines:

J32A1 3.2L USDM SOHC VTEC V6 98+ 3.2TL/3.2CL 225hp
J32A2 3.2L USDM SOHC VTEC V6 00+ 3.2CL Type-S, 01 3.2TL Type-S 260hp
J35A1 3.5L USDM SOHC VTEC V6 98+ Odyessy 210hp
J35A3 3.5L USDM SOHC VTEC V6 Acura MDX 240hp

Accord has a "de-tuned" NSX engine????? OMG....I didn't realize how clueless some people are.
I drove a 2004 Accord EX V-6 about 5-6 hrs to Destin FL. and back.......the thing I noticed about the car is......its not as smooth as a camry 4cyl. or the 6cyl. The transmission is a little slow to react to downshifts. The ride is smooth for the most part...but on the highway....the tires clomp on impact on some surfaces. The interior is nice but the middle dash has to go. I hate the integrated stuff......I need place to put aftermarket stuff in. The car is an awesome value for the money..don't get me wrong..the car is great.

Camry on the other hand.....is a bit floaty. Thats a given though...as all generations have been like that. I never drove the SE model so I can't comment on that one. Interior...its not the greatest but I love the fact that I can still put aftermarket audio stuff in it without paying a couple hundred for an adapter. The car feels roomier than the accord because of the high ceiling. Price isn't its strong point...accord has it beat on that.

So, should he get a Camry or Accord? give specific reasons if you can plz ......

BUY USED

Best advice anyone can get. Cars are a waste of money. unless you NEED a NEW car, buy a used one.

dude, you have no idea what a fool you are making yourself out of.

the K20 (2.0 on the RSX/Integra) has the extact same bore/stroke as the engine in Toyota's Altezza RS200 (3SGE vvti).... are they the same?

it is just coincident that those two numbers are the same, (or actually, the engineers found out it is the perfect bore/stroke amount, but that doesn't mean the two engine the same)

I wouldn't buy the Accord or the Camry, since neither has a HEMI.

Yes, I'm kidding, but seriously, what about a Mazda6 or a Subaru Legacy? The latter has AWD and the Mazda comes in 4-door, wagon, and (my-favorite) 5-door varieties. Both, in my opinion, certainly look better.

I own an I4 AT 2003 accord, my parents own an I4 AT 2004 solara (camry coupe). I've driven their car and they've driven mine. The Solara drives like it has one foot in the grave, the throttle, steering and handling are slow, vague and mushy. The feature list was initially impressive to me, but after I drove it, I lost all interest.

Sorry but 4x double wishbone does matter. With just a $40 sway bar upgrade, I have enough suspension composure to handle driving turns at comfortably illegal speeds. I can get my rear end to kick out with hard turning.

At the time I bought this car, there was no other new car that offered this combination of price, performance, comfort and cost of ownership. The Camry is not even close. The TC seems interesting, but that's not the focus of the thread.

i bought a 2004 Camry XLE in April. I love it. A co-worker has a 2004 Accord, and its nice but i think it rides rough and the seats are uncomfortable compared to my camry.

the one feature that i love on the accord are the daylight lighted instrument cluster. that is very nice.

Edit: for those of you who think the V6 camry is slow, i suggest you drive one.

Love my 05 Solara SE V6 Sport, handles well, brakes well, and has all the luxury I could ask for.
Sunroof, JBL 6-disc in dash, 5-speed manumatic, otd at 23k.
Just a Toyota fanboi, Camry SE V6 is nice too.
Just my 2 cents

LOL

the honda accord does look a bit better than the camry. camry is more fancier (or flasher) than accord, but accord has a nice little subtle look to it that makes it distinct

The Camry is a boat when it comes to handling. I've had one for a rental car and I though the damn thing was going to go off the road if I made a fast turn. It's somewhat quiet but it didn't stand out to me as being exceptionally quiet. A Ford Taurus handles better than a Camry does.
Camrys are meant for people who do not push a car in any way, shape, or form.
As for Accords, found the same as everyone else, noisy but handles quite well.

I bought a brand new '04 Accord Sedan LX V6 a couple months ago. Very pleased with it. I got it for $20,800. Try finding a brand new Camry V6 with comparable features for that price.
