I've been there. It's kind of a weird thing to see. It's basically out in the middle of nowhere in a semi run-down town. All along the edge of the grassy area are vendors selling T-shirts and things to tourists.

When that tower finally falls Pisa will become a ghost town.

IIRC, they spent a sh*tload of money to secure it's leaning position so it's not gonna topple any time soon ;)

I loved Pisa so much... had better food there at a hole in the wall restaurant than anywhere else in Italy.

Haha, that's great!

Of course if I was ever in Pisa, I would *sigh* do the same thing.

As a side note when the woman and I spent a week in Prague we played a game of Spot-the-American-Tourist . . loads of fun. We are so predictable.

It's a pretty simple game.

White socks, trainers, bum bag, university tshirt, and a baseball cap. also tapered levis or those zip pants. pretty easy where i live too to spot all the americans. it's like they have no idea what's going on.

I've seen people lying down in the grass on the Mall in DC to make the Washington
Monument look like their "personal monument"

Haha a friend of mine took a trip to USA a couple of years ago and did that, also did something just slightly more creative. Tourists are fun :)

I had a picture of me surrendering in front of the Eiffel Tower...not exactly creative, but at least somewhat more so.

Tourists in Shanghai

I had been living in Xi'an, China for the past five months and over the new year break I took a trip to Qingdao and Shanghai. While I was in Shanghai I felt I had to get this picture for some reason. I mean, technically I was a tourist as well and everything but I had been there for months and I'd done a pretty good job of sticking to a more authentic experience instead of going to Starbucks and McDonalds like these tourists were doing. And I'm sure they didn't have nearly as much spare time as I did!

When I was in Beijing I saw several tourists doing various poses in front of Mao's portrait outside the Forbidden City. A popular one is of course the "I'm squeezing his head!" picture.
