Hello,
my Toughpower 850W got 2x 8 pin pci-e non-modular, and 2x 6 pins modular.

NVIDIA recommends power connectors that are native to the power supply. I'm not sure what this means, but ThermalTake recommends using 1x modular 6 pin and 1x 8 pin with a 8 to 6 pins adaptor.

So, which one should i use?

Thanks

My closest guess about using connectors that are "native" to the power supply means they don't want you do use something like a 2xMolex to PCI-E adapter...and has nothing to do with whether or not the cables are modular. It would be kind of stupid for them to suggest not using modular cables.

What videocard(s) are you trying to power? Are the 8 pin connectors 6+2 pin or are they 8 pin only?

If you are trying to power a video card that requires 2 6 pin PCI-e connectors, and you have two that will fit in modular slots...then just use those 2 6 pin connectors.

It's a GTX260. It requires 2x6 pin. I'm just a bit confused because TT recommends 1 6 pin and 1 8 pin with 8 to 6 pin connector (for cards with 2x6pin) :/
I guess it's because they are on different 12V rails, and the 2 6 pin is on the same 12V rail.

Why would Thermaltake provide the two 6 pin PCI-E connectors, if they don't expect you to use them? IMO the less connectors you use the better, so I don't know why they would want you to use an adapter...obviously the modular component is a connector also, but still why would they expect you to use an 8 pin to 6 pin connector, when you already have enough 6 pin connectors?

I don't know the rail configuration of the Thermaltake, but it has 4 12 V rails, 2 with 18A available and 2 with 30A available. I would hope or guess that the two 6 pin PCIe are on their own rail and you shouldn't have to worry about it.
