Which should I (or would you) choose to keep? Both are like so similar to each other.

1. Palit GTX 460 1GB OC version @ 800/1000Mhz, slighty more power hungry

2. Sapphire 5850 1GB Xtreme @ stock clocks

What's loaded about it? Pretty straightforward question.

OP: If they perform the same, get whichever one is cheaper.

He owns them both, if I'm understanding the question correctly, and, overall, the 5850 is the faster card of the 2.

Throw a dice:

1-3 -> keep the GTX460 OC
4-6 -> Keep the HD5850

Problem solved.

At those clock speeds the GTX 460 should be faster. It'll also consume more power, though.

The Radeon HD 5850 OCs very good, too, but they're hard to find, especially if you want another one for CrossFire.

Both are very good. Pick one at random.

I actually think this might be a good recommendation. If you plan on doing crossfile/SLI in the future the 460 may be a better bet since they seem easier to find at least for now.

And, if you are not overclocking the 5850, the 460 will be faster at those clocks, so I would keep that one.

Ok, so he already owns them. Still doesn't explain why you think the question is loaded. And also, two other people in this thread states the GTX460 at those clocks is faster than the 5850. Do you disagree? I'm not sure myself.

5850 is generally a faster card than a stock gtx 460, but if you were to overclock both then they'll probably end up about the same speed. Personally, I'd keep the card with the quieter fan. I love my gtx 460 for that reason, though mine is only a 768mb card. Some of those newer 5850's also have extremely quiet fans, though.

I thought that was the cheap version of the 5850? Am I remembering correctly?

It was the cheap one, but it wasn't really gimped (maybe just a bit in terms of overclocking).

Assuming the GTX460 can get to about 850/1000 and the 5850 Xtreme can get to about 850/1200, the 5850 is a bit faster. At the clock speeds the OP suggested, the GTX460 is just barely faster than the stock 5850.

The GTX460 at 850/1000 (i.e., the GTX560) is about the speed of a 6870, and the 6870 is about 7-10% faster than a stock 5850. So a GTX460 at 800 would be maybe 2-3% faster than a stock 5850. Again, overclocked at 850/1200, the 5850 is the stronger card, just beating a 6870.

Between the two, I'd choose the 5850 for its efficiency, but I agree, it's easier to buy a GTX460 if you're looking to go with dual cards.

The 5850 is the faster card. If you will O/C one, why not the other?

I read the question as, "Should I keep the faster card or O/C the slower card and keep it?". It makes no sense, unless there is more to it than simply what's on the surface.
