Tough Decision Help!

I am making a new computer

I kinda want PCI Express but how long will it be till there are sound cards and stuff with it?
I also like SATA and the 925 boards have loads and loads of SATA channels?

The P4 is a mature chipset, and the P4C800-E is dope, but no PCI Express.

A64 is 64 bit but no drivers and boards are rather featureless comparitively?


What do you guys think I should do?

I am thinking of getting something in the (3.2 3200 560) rating.

I will be keeping a 200 GB data drive, AIW 9800 Pro (unless I trade up)

Currently I run an a7v266-c with a 1800+ 1 GB PC2100.

I will see improvement on any of these, but which is gonna be the best?

Mostly depends on what you are going to use the computer for..

Pentium 4's best for (some) video encoding
Athlon 64's best for general office stuff, programming, games, and pretty much everything else

The new 925/915 boards have newer features, but basically identical performance to the last generation Intel stuff, for more money.

With your A64 processor choices you're looking at socket 754. This platform will become AMD's budget line, right now great performance but not AMD's best. Socket 939 would allow for more powerful processors, and better upgrades in the future, but I wouldn't bother if you think you might go for a PCI-E mobo in the not too distant future.
