Acer VN7-591G series laptop

The touchpad drivers don't work on windows 7 so I can't do the side scrolling and such (the touchpad does work though) but I was looking to get some third party software which will let me use the side to scroll and perhaps even use gestures and multitouch.

Who makes the touchpad? If you can find that out, then you might be able to find drivers on the makers site.

If not, highly doubt that you will find other drivers for it.

It is possible (likely?) then that ACER has customized the Synaptics software for its units.

When this happens, I find that sometimes using the software for a close cousin of the target computer can do the trick.

Research the ACER models in your laptop's class (eg, next newer version that hosts Windows 7 from ACER) and try the touchpad software for that one in your machine.

what is the exact model of the laptop?

everything I have seen shows it comes with either win 8.1 or win10.

why would you want to put win 7 on it?

Ya, ACER lists Synaptics as the hardware for that particular unit.

As you are down-grading, then you need to look at older units.

An older cousin (using Synaptics) that sports Windows 7 (64 bit) is Aspire V3-571G (with Synaptics driver ver 15.3.41.5).

64 bit Win 10 Synaptics drivers work fine with 64 bit Win 7. Maybe you're mismatched.
